PRESIDENTS PRIZE

Our Club President, David Crowley is holding his Presidents Prize on Friday 28^th – Sunday 30^th August and the timesheet will open on Monday 17^th August for bookings. The Presidents Scramble takes place on Wednesday 26^th August with a shotgun start at 6pm.

CLUB SINGLES SCRATCH MATCHPLAY

The draw is now live for our club singles scratch Matchplay. A reminder to members to please play their matches on time.

SPECIAL SOCIAL SCRAMBLE

On Friday Aug 21 we are holding a special scramble to introduce our new Get into Golf members (Ladies and Men). This is an important venture and as it helps them integrate into our club. The social aspect is hugely important as part of the Get into Golf programme. We appeal to all our members to join in the fun. The competition is 9 holes with a shotgun start at 5.30pm. Please add your name to the timesheet any time between 3pm – 5.20pm.

LADIES AWAY TRIP TO WEXFORD

We are off to Wexford for our ladies’ golf away trip! There are various options to choose from over the two days. The full details are available in the locker room. Please tick your preferred option and, if you are sharing a room, add the name of the person you are sharing with. Please pay the appropriate deposit by Tuesday, 18^th August. We are looking forward to a great trip!

JUNIOR GOLF NEWS

Hard luck to our brilliant Fred Daly team of Rory McKeown, AJ Hayes, James O’Donnell, Patrick Mullaney and Donnchadh Callaghan who finally relinquished their Munster title last week losing 3-2 to Fermoy GC. Thank you to the team for all their efforts this year!

This Wednesday, 12^th August, we have two Junior Competitions taking place first up is our Open Junior 18-Hole Competition following by Pre Junior 9H competition. There are a few tee times remaining, so be sure to get your entry in! Congrats to last week’s prize winners. It is great to see so many juniors getting involved and playing competitions.

We had a large turnout for our Junior Lessons last Saturday, thank you to all our volunteers for their invaluable assistance. Come along and enjoy an hour of fun, learning and skill development. Equipment is provided, and you do not have to be a club member to take part.

GET INTO GOLF 2026

Our new golfers are making great progress with many of them already having handicaps.  The special Get into Golf competition for the ladies is a real ‘stepping stone’ for them until they feel confident enough to move on to play 18 holes. The ATEC nine hole is open to ladies and men and can be played any day once you have a handicap. Practice continues on Monday evening for the ladies and Tuesday for the men. A huge thanks to the Get into Golf Committee and the many volunteers who give of their time so freely to help with the programme.

 FUN FRIDAY FOURSOMES

The foursomes has become really popular on Friday mornings. There is a real buzz around the clubhouse before they head out on to the fairways. They are back then just in time for morning coffee in the clubhouse. Many thanks to Tom Daly and staff in the bar for providing the hospitality.

The high temperatures had passed for our 60. com on Wednesday 5^th August but we still had excellent conditions for our competition. As usual we had an overflowing timesheet and some excellent scores. The winners were: 1^st Pat Morrissey 24pts, 2^nd John Cartwright 22pts, 3^rd Tom Lyons 21pts. If you are interested in social golf, and are over 60 years of age, then join us any Wednesday by putting you name on our timesheet. Please note the tee times are 8-minute intervals.

Our Youngones filled the timesheet last week and enjoyed lovely sunshine for their weekly competition. We are back again on the front 9H this Wednesday from 11.50 – please note the tee times are 8-minute intervals.

LOTTO

We had our weekly Lotto Draw on Friday 7^th August. The numbers drawn were 5, 16, 21 and 27. The jackpot was €6,800, and there was no winner. The jackpot is €6,900 for the next draw. We had two match 3 winners this week, Mary French and Don Brockie who win €50 each.
