JB CARR UPDATE
Hard luck for our JB Carr team who lost their match on Saturday against a strong Waterford Golf Club team. The weather was not on our side also and we were beaten 3.5 to 1.5. Unfortunately that is the end for this great team but they can hold our heads up high and look forward to next year.
OPEN COMPETITIONS
We have a great selection of Open Competitions coming up over the next few weeks along with our regular Monday and Thursday Opens. The timesheet was full for Monday’s Bank Holiday Easter Scramble at the time of going to print (full results in next weeks newspaper). Our May Bank Holiday Monday Scramble (5th May) is now open for bookings online along with all our Ladies Opens for 2025.
JUNIOR GOLF MEMBERSHIPOur Junior Convenor David Hayes and his committee have great plans for junior golf thisyear from lessons to on course practice and weekly competitions in the summer. If you havea child aged 6 and upwards who would like to try golf or improve their golf skills thenDungarvan Golf Club’s Junior Club is a great way to make friends and learn golf with our golfPRO David. Give us a call for an application form and join up for 2025. Age 6 – 12 is €82 andAge 13 – 18 €107 (includes €7 Golf Ireland membership fee).
GET INTO GOLF 2025The ladies have had two lessons already with our PGA Professional David Hayes and areshowing good potential with many of them practicing on our practice range each week.The programme for men began last Wednesday evening with their first lesson with DavidHayes. We are very lucky to have David in our club to tutor and support our new golfers.
BRIDGE NIGHT FUNDRAISERWe are holding a Bridge Night on Friday 9th May at 7.30pm in the clubhouse. All arewelcome to join us to raise funds for the installation of a much-needed lift for theclubhouse. Entry is €10pp with a raffle on the night. We hope you can spread the word andmake this fundraiser very successful.

60.COMWe had a beautiful day for our 60.Com competition on Wednesday 16th April. The coursewas in magnificent condition with summer conditions returning very quickly. The scoringwas the best in recent years. The winners were: 1st Mossie Walsh 24pts, 2nd TomO’Callaghan 24pts, 3rd Paul Vart 23pts. The results for the previous week (9th April) were asfollows: 1st Dermot Graham 21pts, 2nd Craig Susdorf 20pts, 3rd Michael Dwyer 18pts. If you are interested in social golf, and are over 60 years of age, then join us any Wednesday byputting your name on our timesheet.
FUN FRIDAY FOURSOMESHeavy rain put paid to our foursomes last Friday morning. But we will be back this Friday(April 25). Shotgun start at 9 am. Our foursomes are a real social event. We play nine holes of Scotch Foursomes followed by the coffee and chat in the clubhouse later. If you are new to the club or making a come-back to golf why not join us. All are welcome.
SUNDAY SOCIAL SCRAMBLEOur next scramble is scheduled for next Sunday evening (April 27). Shotgun start at 5pm. These scrambles are open to all members. If you are free why not join us for some social golf. Booking has opened so go online and book your place.
LOTTO RESULTSWe had our weekly Lotto Draw on Friday 18th April. The numbers drawn were 1, 2, 5 and 13.The jackpot was €6,600, and there was no winner. The jackpot is €6,700 for the next draw. We had three match 3 winners – Mary Murphy, Breid Scanlon and Tommy Kehoe who win €34 each.Thank you to everyone who supports our lotto. All funds go towards our coursedevelopment projects. Lotto tickets can be purchased on our website or in the clubhouse.
