CONDOLENCES

We were all greatly saddened to hear of the passing of our former chairman, Seamus O’Neill. Seamus was chairman in 2011 and 2012. A guard of honour of members, officers and former officers was held at his funeral mass as we said goodbye to a longstanding and loyal member of our club.  We extend our sincere sympathies to Diarmuid, Deirdre, Siobhan, Cillian and all the O’Neill family on their very sad loss. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.

JUNIOR/PRE JUNIOR COMPETITION

We have a Christmas Junior and Pre Junior competition on Sunday 21^st December. The format is Ryder Cup and our team captains are Rory McKeown & Donnchadh Callaghan. The timesheet is open for bookings and filling up fast! It is a 9H competition – shotgun start at 2pm. Entry is €10 which includes food and festive fun after golf.

LIONS CLUB FUNDRAISER

All proceeds from Friday 12^th, Saturday 13^th and Sunday 14^th December competitions will go to the annual Dungarvan Lions Club fundraiser. We appeal to all members to come out and support this very important fundraiser. If you are not available to play, we will have donation buckets in the clubhouse all week. Thank you for supporting.

SUNDAY CHRISTMAS SCRAMBLE
Our Christmas scramble had to be deferred until next Sunday afternoon (Dec 14) due to bad weather. Our prizes will reflect Christmas and all members are welcome including juveniles. Timesheet is open. Just go online and book your place. Refreshments will be available in the bar afterwards.

LADIES CHRISTMAS COMPETITION

On Tuesday 16th December we are holding a Christmas 11H Singles S/F competition.
This will be a shotgun start at 11am. To help us celebrate the season, we encourage everyone to wear their Christmas jumper and hat, there will be a prize for the most festively dressed lady! Tea/Coffee and Mince Pies after golf €5. We look forward to a fun and festive day of golf!

FUN FRIDAY FOURSOMES
Once again wet weather prevented us running the foursomes last Friday morning. We are keeping our fingers crossed that we will go ahead this Friday (Dec 12). Shotgun start at 9 am. We play nine holes of Scotch foursomes and it is great fun. This is a social event and a great way to meet other members of the club. Mince pies will be provided after the competition as it is approaching Christmas. All are welcome.

GET INTO GOLF 2025
A number of our Get into Golf participants have already signed on for 2026. We are delighted with the response and are very confident that the remainder of our new golfers will be paid up before the deadline of Jan 31. We have a waiting list for Get into Golf 2026 in operation!!!

60. COM

We had a full timesheet for our 60.com competition on Wednesday 3 December. The conditions on the course were wonderful and the work carried out through recent years on improving playability are very evident at present. As a result, we had some excellent scores. 1^st Pat McCarthy 19pts, 2^nd Tommy Butler 19pts, 3^rd Bernard Gorman 19pts.

Our Christmas party takes place on Wednesday 10th of December which comprises of a nine hole scramble with a meal in the afternoon. We look forward to a full house. If you’re interested in social golf, and are over 60 years of age, then join us any Wednesday by putting your name on our timesheet.

YOUNGONES

We had a good turnout from our competition on 3^rd Dec 1^st Lucy Frost (41) 17pts, 2^nd Mary Gorman (38) 16pts. Our Youngones christmas party is on Wed 17^th at 2pm. Please add your name to the list in locker room if you are available to join us for lots of festive fun. €25pp.

SOCIETY OFFER 2026

Book your 2026 society with us before the end of December 2025 and you will receive our 2025 green fee rate, dozen crested Dungarvan Golf Club golf balls and four greenfees to use as prizes. This offer applies midweek and weekends for groups of 16 or more golfers. Call the office or email us for your preferred date.

LOTTO

We had our weekly Lotto Draw on Friday 5th Dec. The numbers drawn were 6,11,14 and 21. The jackpot was €3,300, and there was no winner. The jackpot is €3,400 for the next draw. We had three match 3 winners – Ann Stack, Maria Ryan and Tish Baumann – who win €34 each. All funds go towards our course development projects. Lotto tickets can be purchased on our website or in the clubhouse.

Resident Professional David has all the latest offerings from the major brands including the Qi35 from TaylorMade, M Craft putters from Mizuno and much more. As always David offers professional advice so ensure you get the most out of your game.
