OPEN SPRING CLASSIC

Our Open Club Classic was a great success with 76 teams entering. Thank you to both members and visitors for supporting this important fundraiser for the club. All funds raised will go towards planned clubhouse improvements. The presentation of prizes will take place this Sunday, 24th May, at 7.30pm, and we hope all prize winners can attend.

VICE CAPTAINS PRIZE

Our Vice Captains, Cathie O’Mahoney and Craig Susdorf, present their Vice Captains’ Prize this Sunday, 24 May.  The timesheet is open for bookings and filling up fast. We wish our Vice Captains the very best for what promises to be a great day. The Vice Captains prizegiving takes place on Sunday 24^th May at 7.30pm in the clubhouse. All members are welcome to attend.

SAMARITANS FUNDRAISER

We are proud to support Golf Ireland’s 2026 charity partner, Samaritans Waterford & South East, by holding a ‘Play In Green’ Open Gents/Ladies 18H Singles fundraiser on Friday 5^th June. The timesheet is open for booking, with entry fees €10 for members and €20 for visitors. Play dressed in Green, Samaritans colours, with a prize for best outfit!  We encourage all members to support this very worthwhile fundraiser.

GET INTO GOLF 2026

David Hayes our PGA Professional completed the first part of phase one of our Get into Golf programme after a very busy month of golf lessons with our new golfers. The next stage is to introduce our Get into Golf members to our fine golf course. We are delighted with the positive response we got from our members to come out and help. The ladies are scheduled for Monday evenings and the men will play on Wednesday evenings. This will continue for four weeks after which it is ‘make your mind up’ time for our new golfers. We are holding our information meeting on Monday May 25 which will outline the programme for them going forward. Please keep the date free. Refreshments will be served on the night.

ATEC 9H COMPETITION

ATEC 2026 has commenced and runs for 18 weeks. The ATEC 9H competition can be entered at any time, any day of the week outside times dedicated to a club or an open competition. A weekly prize will be awarded to the best score. Please place completed score cards in the dedicated ATEC box in the foyer. Please refer to email which included full terms of competition entry. Thank you to ATEC Fire & Security Systems for their sponsorship and continued support of our club.

The timesheet is live for our upcoming June Bank Holiday Monday 18H Champagne Scramble. This popular competition is sure to fill up fast. Our next Ladies Open competition – Team of 3 Florida Scramble – will be held on Tues 2^nd June kindly sponsored by New Images Hair Salon. As always, every Monday and Thursday we hold Open Competitions throughout the summer.

JUNIOR GOLF NEWS

Junior Membership invoices were emailed in April and must now be paid in full to allow continued play on the course.

CLUB MATCH PLAY

This year we are running three match play competitions. We will have a Mixed Foursome competition and Men’s Match Play and Men’s Scotch Foursome’s. These competitions will be an open draw. The draws will be posted on the BRS. Please follow the post in the locker rooms as to entry format. Each Competition entry if €10 per person (The pairs are €20).
Closing date for entries is Sunday June 1st (Evening). The draw for these competitions will be made and posted by Wed evening June 3rd.

60. COM

We had a breezy day for our 60. com competition on Wednesday 13 May. The weather conditions did not impede our golfers and we had some wonderful scores. Results 1^st Adrian O’Driscoll 23pts, 2^nd John Dalton 22pts, 3^rd Dave Byrne 20pts. If you are interested in social golf, and are over 60 years of age, then join us any Wednesday by putting your name on our timesheet.

YOUNGONES

Another busy timesheet last Wednesday! Results from 13^th May 1^st Breda McCarthy (11) 22pts, 2^nd Cáit Herlihy (32) 20pts, 3^rd Patricia Butler (27) 18pts CB. We play the front 9H this Wednesday 20^th with a few spaces still available. As always special thank you to Marianne Mulcahy for organising this very popular weekly competition.

FUN FRIDAY FOURSOMES
We had no foursomes last week as we had our fundraising Spring Classic. We are back again this Friday – shotgun start at 9 am. We play nine holes of Scotch Foursomes and we play the back nine holes. It is a great opportunity to meet other club members and have fun. We are back in the clubhouse in time for morning coffee and to enjoy the hospitality of Tom Daly and his hardworking staff. All are welcome.

SUNDAY SOCIAL SCRAMBLE

Our social scrambles are ‘on hold’ until Sunday July 5. This is due to major competitions taking place over the next few weeks. But we will be back as these scrambles are great fun and great social events. For new members they are an ideal way to meet other members in our club.

LOTTO

We had our weekly Lotto Draw on Friday 15 May. The numbers drawn were 3, 12, 21 and 24. The jackpot was €5,600, and there was no winner. The jackpot is €5,700 for the next draw. There was two match 3 winners, Eileen O Donovan and Mary Slater, who win €50 each. Please contact the office or renew on line if your €90 ticket has expired. All funds go towards our course development projects. Lotto tickets can be purchased on our website or in the clubhouse.
