CAPTAINS PRIZE

The Captain’s Prize, kindly presented by Patrick Cumiskey will be played from Friday the 26^th June to Sunday the 28^th June 2026, and all eligible members are invited to participate. Members are kindly requested to enter one of the qualifying rounds on Friday the 26^th June or Saturday the 27^th June 2026.  The time sheets for both dates are active from Monday evening on BRS.

Sunday’s final round will be a shotgun start at 12.00. The leading three players will tee off on hole 1. The next best three ball will be on hole 2 and so on. There will be two pairs of three playing off each of the par fives. This allows for a total of 66 qualifiers. The time sheet for Sunday’s final round will be posted after 9pm on Saturday the 27^th of June.  

Entry for the competition will close at 12 midnight on Wednesday 24^th June 2025. A Captain’s prize to Ladies will also be played on Friday and Saturday with first prize presented by Captain Patrick. Full details of the format have been emailed to members. The Presentation of prizes will take place in the clubhouse on Sunday 28^th June at 7pm. Members, partners and family are cordially invited to attend the presentation on the night.

CAPTAIN 9H SCRAMBLE

The Captain’s 9 Hole scramble will take place on Wednesday 24^th June at 5.30pm. The scramble is a shotgun start at 5.30pm sharp. Entry for this event is €10 and €5 for juniors and members can enter via the members booking facility. Entries for this event will close at 6pm on Tuesday the 23^{rd of} June. Prizegiving and finger food will be provided in the clubhouse after finish of play.

PGA PRO DAVID HAYES TOURNAMENT

Save the date! Our PGA Professional, David Hayes, is proud to celebrate his 30th anniversary at Dungarvan Golf Club. To mark this remarkable milestone and recognise three decades of service to our members, David is hosting an Anniversary Golf Tournament on Saturday, 11^th July. Join us in celebrating David’s contribution to the club and the game of golf over the past 30 years. We look forward to making this a memorable occasion for all involved.

The competition format is a members only three-person scramble, with an entry fee of €10 per person. There will be some amazing prizes to be won on the day. Presentation of prizes will take place at 8:30pm, followed by music from the fantastic Padraic Di Fusco. We hope all our members will support what promises to be a great day of golf and an enjoyable night of celebrations as we honour David’s 30 years of service to our club.

Congratulations to Michael Dwyer who had a Hole In One on Friday 5^th June! That’s the third hole in one in a matter of weeks for our members!

MARY MCKENNA TEAM

Congratulations to our Mary McKenna team who won the first leg 3-2 in Castlemartyr Golf Club last week. They will be playing the second leg at home this Tuesday 16^th June at 2pm. All support welcome!

JUNIOR GOLF NEWS

We are holding an Open 18H Junior Competition this Thursday 18^th as part of our Open Fortnight, a few tee times remaining so get booking!

Thank you to all our volunteers David, Alan, James and Mike for their invaluable assistance to our PRO David Hayes at last Saturday’s golf lessons. Please note that children must be aged 6 or over to take part in the lessons. It is wonderful to see such large numbers of boys and girls attending each week. Lessons take place every Saturday from 3pm to 4pm. Junior Membership invoices were issued in April and must now be paid in full to ensure continued access to the course. To request a Junior membership form please email office@dungarvangolfclub.com. Pre Junior membership (age 6 – 12) is €82.50 and Junior (13 – 18) is €107.50.

GET INTO GOLF 2026

We are approaching the end of phase one of the Get into Golf programme with most of our participants opting to continue into phase two which will take them to the end of the year. Each Monday evening (ladies) and Tuesday evening (men) there is an air of excitement around the club as our new golfers take to the fairways. We are indebted to so many of our members who give up their time and come out and accompany them on the golf course. They are so helpful and so encouraging to our new members which is so important in building a good club spirit.

There is no doubt that good weather draws the crowd to play golf. We had the biggest number last Friday morning for the foursomes. There was a great buzz in the foyer as people waited to get started.

Our 60. com competition on Wednesday 10 June was played in glorious conditions. As a result, we had at packed timesheet. YOUNGONES

Glorious weather conditions last Wednesday, 10th June, for our Youngones Competition. The course was presented in excellent condition, and the sunshine made for a fantastic day of golf. Congratulations to 1^st Marie Veale (41) 18pts, 2^nd Lucy Frost (41) 18pts, 3^rd Flora Wall (39) 17pts.  Our next outing is to Waterford Castle on Thursday 25^th June.

MATCH PLAY MIXED FOURSOMES

Our Lady Captain Carmel Fox with her playing partner Men’s Captain Patrick Cumiskey have advanced to the third round of the 2026 Mixed Foursomes after defeating our Chairman Denis Buckley and Hon Sec Ann-Marie O’Byrne. The score was 3-2 in a close fought match, played in ideal conditions last Thursday. Hopefully we will have other results forthcoming in the near future. Please advise Martin T. Landers with results.

LOTTO

We had our weekly Lotto Draw on Friday 12^th June.  The numbers drawn were 6, 8, 10 and 19. The jackpot was €6,000, and there was no winner. The jackpot is €6,100 for the next draw. We had two match 3 winners, Kevin Stack and Jerry McCarthy, who win €50 each. Please contact the office or renew on line if your €90 ticket has expired. All funds go towards our course development projects. Lotto tickets can be purchased on our website or in the clubhouse.
