PRESIDENTS PRIZE

The President’s Prize, kindly presented by David Crowley, will be held this Friday 28^th and Saturday 29^th August with the final round on Sunday 30^th August. On Friday 28^th/Saturday 29^th an 18 Hole Stroke play first round will be played off the white markers for men and red for ladies, with the top 54 men and the top 36 ladies qualifying to play in a second round on Sunday 30^th August. The aggregate score over the two rounds will decide the winner. In the event of a tie the winner will be decided by count-back. The timesheet closes on Wed 26^th at 9pm. On Sunday 30^th all qualifiers to be in clubhouse prior to 11.30am for a Shotgun Start at 12pm.

There will also be an option to play in a separate 18-Hole Stableford, one day plate competition, on either Friday (the 28^th) or Saturday (the 29^th) off the green tee markers for men and red markers for women. Please specify your intention to play in this alternative competition when paying on entry. All members and their partners are invited to the Clubhouse on Sunday 30^th August for the presentation of prizes at 7pm approx. We wish David the very best for his Presidents Prize weekend.

PRESIDENTS 9H SCRAMBLE

The Presidents 9-hole scramble is on Wednesday 26^th August with a shotgun start at 6pm. Please add your name to timesheet by Wednesday 26th of August before 9am to facilitate a draw to be made. Juniors with a handicap can play in the scramble. Cash only entry €10 per person. €5 for juniors. Finger Food will be served after golf.

Autumn Open week runs from Monday 14^th – Sunday 20th September and we have a great selection of competitions to choose from. GET INTO GOLF CELEBRATORY SCRAMBLE
This year we celebrate ten years of the Get into Golf programme in our club. The ladies programme was introduced in 2016 and was organised by Christine O’Keeffe and Teresa Hayes.  In 2018 John Moran initiated a programme for men. Today about forty percent of our members have come through the Get into Golf programme which has added significantly to the membership. Last Friday evening our members came out in large numbers to celebrate this important milestone for our club. There was a great buzz about the clubhouse as celebrations got underway.

John Dempsey did a great job on the draw for the scramble and many thanks to all the Get into Golf Committee for helping to run the event. Tom Daly and staff in the bar provided food afterwards adding to the social side of the event.

PAST/PRESENT LADY CAPTAINS

Our annual Past & Present Lady Captains and Presidents competition was held on Sunday 23^rd. We welcomed teams from 18 clubs ranging from Wexford to Ballybunion. Everyone was very positive about our course and the excellent choice of food provided by Tom Daly. Thank you to sponsor Betty O’Brien, Minnies Bar who provided beautiful hampers. Many thanks and our deep appreciation to Betty for sponsoring this competition since 1995.

BENNY KIELY MEMORIAL WALK

NEW FEATURE – MENS 1^ST TEE
Our Wednesday volunteers and the ladies garden group have really enhanced the small triangular area near the men’s first tee box. They have made it a very attractive feature as you pass through from the 9th green. Take note when you are going through the next time.  The planters and seat were funded by the Friday Foursomes group.

JUNIOR GOLF NEWS

Last Wednesday we held two very popular Junior competitions. It was great to welcome visitors from other clubs to play in our Open 18H competition. Some great scoring!  It has been a great summer for our Juniors and with school returning our 9H and 18H competitions will move to Sundays. More details to follow.

This Wednesday, 26^th Aug the Deise Golf League takes place in our club. This is an Open 18H Junior competition and we encourage our members to book in! The timesheet is nearly full which is wonderful to see.

We had a great turnout for our Junior Lessons last Saturday, thank you to all our volunteers for their invaluable assistance. Come along and enjoy an hour of fun, learning and skill development. We welcome the South Munster Seniors on Wednesday 9^th September. This is the third and final visit of 2026 and the timesheet always fills up quickly. Entry is only €15pp please book online.

We had our weekly Lotto Draw today (21-08-2026). The numbers drawn were 1,3,11 and 27. The jackpot was €7,000, and there was no winner. The jackpot is €7,100 for the next draw.
